The story has been completed under full moon light. No artificial source of light is used. This is a conversation between two friends. Both are unable to speak in a language which has limitations of its own.
Aahna: Hello Ryan! How are you? (More stress on ‘you’)
Ryan: I can’t believe you called me up at this time, that too after a month.
Aahna: Oh! Common. It’s only 10:00 and I thought you were busy studying for exams.
Ryan: No No No. I haven’t studied since a month, that’s the truth.
Aahna: Then what you were doing? Cooking Food. A’hn! (Giggles)
Ryan: Don’t laugh. I got my legs injured in an accident.
Aahna: So, that’s a Good News! (Excited)
Ryan: What? (Surprised)
Aahna: Yes! You don’t have to write this Semester Exam.
Ryan: Oh! But I thought you would be much happier. This time you won’t have to make upward comparison.
Aahna: (laughing) Why you think so?
Ryan: Think Like? What? (Inquisitiveness)
Aahna: That I can’t score more than you in Exams.
Ryan: Because you… (Unable to complete sentence) Leave it. Leave it.
Aahna: Anyway, I am just waiting for the exam. (Sounds Confident)
Ryan: All the best, then.
Aahna: But you know Ryan, I have never been good in Astronomy. I get confused when they speak of Constellations, Galaxy and things I don’t remember, and that is the first paper.
Ryan: Oh! That’s the only thing which I like. It’s interesting.
Aahna: I don’t know… (Completes this sentence in a broken voice)
Ryan: Don’t worry. I will teach you.
Aahna: But you can’t walk and come. I don’t even have the book. I gave it to my friend.
Ryan: I will teach you now. (Speaks with a smile)
Aahna: How? (Surprised)
Ryan: Look upon the Sky. Brightstars, Moon and…
Aahna: I never thought you were so intelligent. (Smiles)
Ryan: Stop making fun of me. I will cut the call otherwise.
Aahna: Oh! That’s not fair.
Ryan: Look above. Can you see a ring around Moon? It’s full Moon tonight.
Aahna: Yes I can see. They are Bright.
Ryan: Fine. That sounds good. Now tell me, are you able to locate Pole Star?
Aahna: No. I can only see Moon. Rest is twinkling stars. They are many and stop speaking like a Nerd.
Ryan: Oh! Common. I am able to see it form here. Why don’t you?
Aahna: Wait! (Small pause) Yes! Now I can see it. It’s Pole Star.
Ryan: (Smiles) I know you are not speaking truth. You remember, in class you were not able to answer a
single question in Astronomy. (Laughs)
Aahna: A’hn! Believe me. I can see. (Trying to pretend) It’s just parallel to Moon. (Speaking in a broken sentence)
Ryan: (Laughs) Is it so? I see!
Aahna: Yes! I know Sailors use Pole Star for finding direction. (Becomes silent for a moment)
Ryan: I know. I know. You will describe everything other than what is required to answer.
Aahna: And you mean to say I don’t know anything. (A little bit arrogant)
Ryan: Of Course you don’t. (A long Silence)
Aahna: Ryan! Look upon the Moon. Can you?
Ryan: Yes! I am looking.
Aahna: How it looks?
Ryan: Bright. More brighter. It’s full Moon tonight. She is the governess of Tides.
Aahna: (Irritated) That anyone can say. I want Ryan to speak of Moon for Aahna.
Ryan: How shall I describe it to you? (Asking innocently and expecting an answer)
Aahna: Ryan. Listen. Together you and I can see this Moon at the same time; adore its celestial beauty, tender colors, although we are separated by length of time, this Moon nullifies the time between us. I feel as if we are sitting together and talking. (Voice becoming sweeter and softer)
Ryan: (After a pause) I don’t think so. (Sounds Analytical) We both are at our House. Not together.
Aahna: Oh! God! I called you this time to learn Astronomy? (Questioning in a louder voice) Put the phone down. (Repeating twice. Louder than earlier)
Ryan: Did I say something wrong? But… Actually… (Surprised)
Aahna: I said, put the phone down. I don’t want to talk to you now. (Phone Disconnects)
It was almost after three decades they were sitting together near seashore. Hand in Hand, as we see in Movies. Tonight they were being watched by the governess of Tide. It was Full Moon. This ambience made them feel back in time and Ryan started teasing Aahna.
Ryan: Can you see Pole Star?
Aahna: Yes! Now I can. It is between two constellations. Cassiopein and Big Dipper. (This consists of seven bright stars)
Ryan: I think that night you told something like, ‘It helps sailors to find directions’.
Aahna: (Smiles and then Laughs) Yes! And you remember how you described Moon? “More Brighter. It’s full Moon tonight. She is the governess of Tides”.
Both were laughing on each other answers.
Ryan: You know Aahna, I think that day you were trying to teach me something of… (Incomplete sentence)
Aahna: Something of… What?
Ryan: (Smiles) Something of you and me. And I must say that it took me a long time to understand.
Aahna: What have you learned my Dear?
Ryan: That Moon was mere infatuation, attraction and love for me, but this Moon is detachment and ecstasy for us.
Aahna: Oh! I see. I never thought you were so intelligent.
Ryan: Oh! Then show me Pole Star.
Aahna: I already know. No need to show you.
